Captain Bryce Patrol: An Arcaxer Fan Game

In the fall of 2020 on the Arcaxer discord, we joked that we would release an Arcaxer fan game before Arcaxer hit the Oculus Store (because even unfinished, it totally deserves one)... and HERE IT IS!  At least, in early access.

Captain Bryce Patrol is a fan game based on our favorite character from the Arcaxer storyline, Captain Bryce.  In Captain Bryce Patrol, Bryce takes to adventure on his flying ship to fight his way through a variety of enemies and multiple bosses.

The nearly spoiler free story:
For reasons much explained in the Arcaxer game storyline, a new pipeline has been constructed that has caused significant damage to the environment in the Sim. However, the problems begin when the pipelines begin to run dry. With the Arcaxer busy being a protagonist, it falls to Captain Bryce to solve the mystery. Play as Bryce as you fight your way through the pipeline to find the source of the problem, and uncover the damage goes far deeper than anyone realized. 

While it is not necessary to play Arcaxer before playing Captain Bryce Patrol, we highly recommend playing Arcaxer, cause it is awesome. It's the best game on quest. We have all played it for hundreds of hours. Also, you will know the characters, why they are in this predicament, why the sky is orange, why there are so many coffee-related themes, and you will be in on the jokes.

Gameplay:
Captain Bryce Patrol is a mix of flight sim, shooter and light RPG. Standing on the bow of the ship, the controls steer the boat, while both hands become cannons firing a variety of hacks (Arcaxer speak for spells) at enemies. Bryce and his hacks gain levels and stats while fighting enemies and playing minigames. Enemy drops give stat boosts and currency for purchasing more hacks and stat boosts.

We are Underwalk, and we are a group of Arcaxer fans fueled by coffee and a love of Captain Bryce. We were inspired to do this while watching the Overrun devs livestream working on their game and participating in that great community. And Bryce's wicked dance moves.

Notes on Comfort
This is a first person game with no comfort settings that uses a lot of flight style movement. The bow of the ship goes a long way to alleviate motion sickness by giving a stable reference. There is smooth turning, but turning is sparse and spaced out. Be sure to assess yourself periodically while playing. The game is designed to be played standing, but can be played seated.
